Peanuts! Anyone for Peanuts!

The inclusion of Peanuts at School by Charles M. Schulz is proof that there is a lighter side to the ‘Education in Literature Collection’. It is a collection of cartoon strips from 1970 to 1982. They feature Charlie Brown, his sister Sally and their friends Peppermint Patty, Marcie, Linus, Franklin, Snoopy and Woodstock. We can relate to, as well as be amused by, their struggles with reading, writing, arithmetic, homework, test results, reports, class trips and book reports.
I loved the sequence of cartoons about the time when Peppermint Patty, who is not a natural scholar, attends a school recommended to her by Snoopy. She is horrified to learn that , despite graduating, she will have to return to her usual school. Her ‘private school’ is, in reality, the ‘Ace Obedience School for Dogs’.
