School Histories Collection
If you’re looking for a quiet place to study in the Library, you may not be aware of the area just beyond the computer rooms which contains the School Histories Collection. This study space is relatively unused, perhaps because it is slightly off the beaten track. I think it’s a wonderfully quiet area with plenty of light and quite a few study tables and carrels. No doubt many of you will be tempted to look at the collection when you use this room. The School Histories Collection consists of over 1,500 books and pamphlets dating from the early twentieth century up to the present. It is a fascinating collection which tells the stories of individual schools and their communities across Britain. And, if this collection takes your fancy, there are older materials related to this theme, mainly from the nineteenth century, which form part of the History of Education Collection. So if you’re struggling to find a quiet study space, use this hidden corner of the Library and perhaps take a break by browsing the School Histories Collection, which is just one of the many Special Collections we have in the Library.
