More access to e-journals is a popular request from Library users. The Library has responded by acquiring two backfile collections of education e-journals from publishers Wiley-Blackwell and Sage.
The backfile from Wiley-Blackwell consists of 27 titles, which amounts to over 260,000 pages of content. Titles included are from the top tier of education journals, published on behalf of academic and professional societies. Deep content (going back to Vol.1 of the journal) is integrated with current online content, providing flexible searching and article retrieval. Articles are provided as full-text PDFs, with links to related abstracts and references. Where applicable Journal Citation Reports rankings are also given. In addition Wiley offers content alerts and RSS feeds as part of its service.
Examples from the collection:
• School Science and Mathematics, with access back to 1901, find out what experiments were taking place in classrooms over a century ago!
• Journal of School Health, research topics including physical education, diet, mental health, and medical inspections of schools from 1930 onwards.
The Sage education backfile contains deep content (back to Vol.1) up to and including the last issue of 1998. Access to 1999 onwards is provided through our current subscription. Of the 39 titles included in the backfile, 19 are ranked in the Journal Citation Reports. Sage provides several services to help readers including links to similar articles, citation alerts, links to Google Scholar, and opportunities to share findings on social bookmarking sites.

• Psychology of Music, investigate how attitudes towards musical talent in children, preschool music curriculum, and musical instruction have changed since 1973.
• Journal of Special Education, articles ranging from exploring roles of specialists, effects of drugs on children learning, representation of minority students in special education, and learning programmes for students with disabilities. See how research has developed since 1966.
